Payment methods: Stripe, PayPal, and cash on delivery

Enabling card gateways and setting their keys, why cash on delivery is the default, and the crucial difference between shoppers' payment methods and your own cards.

Last updated: 1 min read

The Settings → Payment Methods tab defines how your customer pays you.

Cash on delivery (COD)

This is the store default — it needs no external setup.

Card gateways

GatewayHow it's enabled
StripeFrom this tab, with its app in the apps store where its keys are entered
PayPalFrom this tab, with its app in the apps store where its keys are entered

Each gateway is tied to its app in the apps store, and that's where the keys go. Enabling the tab alone isn't enough if the keys aren't configured.

An important distinction

Shopper payment methods ≠ your saved cards. The cards used to top up your own wallet are managed under Wallet → Payment Methods, completely separate from this tab. See Wallet.
